Range

Sulawesi and Lesser Sundas;
Fragmented island populations;
(1) Sulawesi and the associated islands of Muna, Butung, Tukangbesi, Tanahjampea, Kayuadi, Kalao, Madu and Kalaotoa.
(2) Masalembu (Solombo) Besar Is. in the Java Sea.
(3) Lesser Sundas on Sumbawa, Komodo (Komodo National Park), Padar, Rinca, Flores, Pantar, Alor, Semau and Timor.
Formerly found on Lombok where it is probably extinct.
(4) Sumba Is.
Introduced to Hong Kong and Singapore.
