Range

Nw. Africa. Africa s. of the Sahara;
Fragmented distribution: single main population in e. and s. Arica with small isolated populations in w Africa;
(1) Isolated population in nw. African in Morocco (Merja Zerga Lagoon) and Tunisia. Senegambia, s. Mali, s. Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon and Congo.
(2) C. and e. Angola, s. and e. Zaire, s. Chad, se. Sudan, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, ne. Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa (Cape Province).
(3) Madagascar.
