Sw. India. Himalayas to se. Asia. Sumatra;
Three populations;
(1) Main population in w. India along the base of the Himalayas from Uttah Pradesh (Garhwal Terai, Kumaon) to Assam (Tezu), s. Nepal, n. Bangladesh, Burma and offshore is. in the Mergui Archipelago (Kadan, Thayawthadangyi) to sw. China (Yunnan, w. Yingjiang and s. Xishuangbanna Districts), Thailand (offshore is. of Ko Chang and Ko Kram), Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, nc. peninsular Malaysia (Belum area s. to Bukit Fraser in Pahang, Gombak Valley and Grenting Simpah and offshore is. of Salanger, Lontar, Telibun, Terutau, Langkawi, Pinang, Dingings, Pangkor). An isolated population occurs on Sumatra.
(2) Sw. India (w. Ghats from Kolaba to Tenmalai).
