Range
S. Europe to c. Asia;
Fragmented distribution;
(1) S. Europe (se. British Isles, Mediterranean basin from coastal Spain, Balearic Is., s. France, n. Italy, Corsica and Sicily to n. Italy, Yugoslavia, Austria, Hungary (Apaj Puszta, Kiskunsag National Park), w. Turkey e. to e. Ukraine) and n. Africa in n. Morocco n. Tunisia and n. Egypt (Nile delta).
(2) S. and e. Turkey, s. Russia (s. Black Sea area, Transcaucasus, n. Caspian Sea and lower Volga River regions, Aral Sea), w. Turkestan e. to e. Kazakhstan and s. to Iraq, and n. Iran.
Winters s. to cn. Saudi Arabia, Iraq, n. Iran, w. Afghanistan, w. Pakistan (Baluchistan) and nw. India locally in Punjab and Kumaon.
(3) S. Russia and se. Ukraine in lower Don River and Krasnodar areas.
