C. and se. Asia and Greater Sundas;
Highly fragmented range;
(1) Ne. Asia in c. Siberia e. to Amurland, and Ussuriland, n. Mongolia, ne. China (Manchuria), n. Korea, Sakhalin Is., s. Kuril Is., and Japan.
Winters in s. China (Yunnan, Guangdong, Hainan Is.), se. Asia to w. Burma, Philippines and Greater Sundas.
(2) Nw. Pakistan, (Murree Hills) e. through the foothills of the Himalayas to e. Nepal, c. and s. India (Vindhya Range, Satpura Range, Western Ghats, and possibly Eastern Ghats).
Winters in peninsular India mostly s. of the Vindhya Range, Sri Lanka, Andaman Is., and Nicobar Is.

Winters s. to Singapore, Sumatra, Java, and w. Boneo.
