C. and se. South America; N. South America;
Two populations with fragmented distribution;
(1) N. and e. Bolivia, se. Brazil (Bahia in the Valley of the Rio San Francisco, Lago de Sobradinho, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais s. in s. Mato Grosso and Sao Paulo to Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul), Paraguay, Uruguay and n. Argentina s. in Corrientes and Misiones to Tucuman, Santa Fe and Buenos Aires at Punta Lora.
(2) E. of the Andes in ne. Colombia s. in Meta (Carimagua and Hacienda La Corocora), Arauca to Rio Guaviare and e. to nw. Vichada and c. Venezuela s. to the Orinoco River.
