Range

N. ec. Asia;
Presently seems to breed in small numbers only in the Amur River Basin (Khabarovsk) of Siberia, but other breeding populations may well exist. Formerly bred in se. Siberia in Ussuriland and from Lake Khanka along the Ussuri and Amur Rivers to the Sikhote Alin Mountains and the Krasnoi River in Amurland to ne. China (Heilungkiang or Manchuria, Kirin), Korea and formerly in Japan. Khingansky Nature Reserve, Russia.
Disperses to ne. India (Assam, Manipur), Bangladesh, China (lower Yangtze Valley to s. Fukien, Kwangtung and Hong Kong), Taiwan and Hainan.
