Range
S. New Guinea and n. Australia;
S. New Guinea from Frederik Hendrik Is. to the Gulf of Papua in the floodplains of the Trans-Fly. N. Australia from the Fitzroy River, Broome district, ne. Western Australia and the Northern Territory (Top End to Arnhem Land, Fogg Dam and Kakadu National Park) to se. Queensland (Broad Sound, Rockhampton n. of Brisbane) and c. New South Wales. Reintroduced to s. Victoria with limited success (Serendip Wildlife Research Station, Tower Hill State Game Reserve, Warrnambool).
