Fragmented distribution;
(1) Pacific is. including Palau, Caroline and Solomon Is., Santa Cruz Is., n. New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago, Louisiade Archipelago, Vanuatu (Gana, Santo, Ambae, Malakula, Efate, Erromango, Tanna, Aneityum), New Caledonia, Loyalty Is., Fiji (Kandavu, Mango, Matathuwa Levu, Mothe, Ngau, Oneata, Ono-I-Lau, Taveuni, Viti Levu), Tonga (Fonualei, Niuafou, Nomuka, Tongatapu, Vavau), Western Samoa (Savaii, Upolu), American Samoa (Aunuu, Tutuila) to Cook Is., Society (Tahiti, Bora-Bora, Huahiue, Maiao, Raiatea, Moorea, Maiao) and Tubuai Is. (Rapa, Tubuai, Rimatara and Raivavae).
(2) Indonesia from Sumatra (probably), Java, Kangean Is., Bali, Kangean Is. Sulawesi, s. Moluccas (Buru Is.), s. New Guinea, Australia (w. and n. Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, c. and e. South Australia and Tasmania).
(3) New Zealand on North Island and South Island and larger offshore is. including Kermadec, Chatham, Snares, Auckland, Campbell and Macquarie Is. Also occurs on Lord Howe Is. and Norfolk Is.
