N. Palearctic;
N. Europe in the British Isles and n. Scandinavia e. across n. Russia and n. Siberia to the Chokotski Peninsula and Anadyrland.
Winters locally in Mediterranean basin, n. tropical Africa and the Middle East e. through the Indian Subcontinent, Indochina and s. China (Fujian, Guangdong, Hong Kong), Taiwan, Malay Peninsula, Indonesia (Borneo) and s. Ryukyu Is. Occasionally the Philippines.
