S. Central America s. to Amazonian South Ameria;
Three major populations;
Sc. Mexico from Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Chiapas and s. Campeche and Belize (Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary) s. to Costa Rica (Carara), Panama, n. and e. Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam, Guiana then s. e. of the Andes through Amazonian Brazil (Mato Grosso (Rio Cristalino)), e. Ecuador, e. Peru (Tambopata River, Madre de Dios, Puno), n. and e. Bolivia (Santa Cruz).
